The Tolkien Mailing Competition took place for the 18th time in this academic year, and it was international for the 11th time. There was one big change compared to the first decade of the international category: this year participation in the Quendi category was open not only for individual competitors, but also for teams.

Az alábbiakban a 18. Országos és 11. Nemzetközi Tolkien Levelező Verseny nemzetközi, és az egyéni versenyzők mellett idén először csapatoknak is meghirdetett quendi kategóriájában elért végeredmények olvashatók.
Overall 53 people have joined the international category this year: 26 of them were competing individually as usual, but we also had 9 teams of 2-5 people each (with 27 members in all the teams together). Competitors registered from Hungary (15), Slovakia (6), Austria (6), Peru (4), USA (4), Iran (4), Germany (3), UK (2), Brazil (1), Croatia (1), Denmark (1), Italy (1), Lithuania (1), Netherlands (1), Spain (1), Sweden (1) and Australia (1). It seems that this is the first time that we had a participant from Denmark! For participating countries of the first decade check out this previous post >>>
The individual competitors and the teams received the same set of tasks, but competed on separate leaderboards. (This form was already present in the Hungarian categories before, where the team competition for schools was the original form, and the game was opened for adults competing alone about the same time on national and international level.)
Of the 26+9 applicants, 15 individual competitors and 8 teams have submitted their solutions for the first round, and 9+6 completed all five rounds of the competition. We understand that five monthly rounds take up a lot of time, and appreciate the work of all competitors, who started this journey, and especially the perseverance of all finishers – but let’s see the winners!

(Total points were rounded everywhere else, but here we had to emphasise the half point of difference.)
Special mentions:
The Zagar, Cû, agh Bark team finished with the best quiz results (95%) and was also the only team competitor to complete a 100% quiz round this year (in the 4th round).
The OMA - Orc Magic Apprentices team achieved the 3rd best scores in the creative challenges among the team competitors (with the second-best creative scores in the 2nd and 4th rounds).
(There was officially no quiz and creative sub-competitions for teams, as teams were expected to solve all the tasks, while individuals could choose to do only the quiz or only the creative part.)
We congratulate all your achievements,
and hope to see you again in next year’s competition!
