Spot (the Hobb)it!

In the second round of the Quendi category of 2021/2022, we have asked our competitors to choose and draw suitable symbols for an imaginary Tolkien-themed edition of the Dobble (Spot it!) game: eight simple images which have an obvious Middle-earth connection; are easily recognisable even in small size; and can be identified by one word/name/expression.

A 2021/2022 évad második fordulójában arra kértük a quendi kategória versenyzőit, hogy egy Tolkien-tematikájú Dobble-játék lehetséges szimbólumait rajzolják meg: egyszerű, kis méretben is felismerhető, egy egyértelmű kifejezéssel megnevezhető, és természetesen Középföldéhez kapcsolódó ábrákat. Öt versenyző negyven rajzából összesen 19 különböző szimbólum gyűlt össze: ezek némelyikével időközben már a Lassi Laurië lapjain is találkozhattatok.

Although five competitors sent their eights, we ended up with only 19 different symbols, as there were obviously some popular choices.

All five solutions included the One Ring and some version of the Eye of Sauron (in itself, on the top of Barad-dûr or in a palantír: although the last is not exactly the same, it is too easily confused to be used in the same deck); and Bilbo's door (with or without Bag End), mallorn leaves and the White Tree (in itself or on the shield of Gondor) were also common. There were two of: pipe, broken Narsil, Smaug, Sting, spider, and eagle. Unique choices were a beer-tankard, Erebor, The Prancing Pony sign, Orodruin, a wizard's hat, Arwen's medallion, Boromir's horn and a very cute dwarvish ent.

But instead of more explanations, let’s spot those dobbles!
