Task IV of the Quendi 2nd round:

"The Lord of the Rings as we know it is a translation of a chronicle written by Mr. Bilbo and Mr. Frodo Baggins. But it contains several scenes where the chroniclers were not present and had to rely on the stories told by others: some of whom do not like to speak much, while others would perhaps make their own roles more colourful. Describe the scene and write the dialogue between Frodo and one of his companions as he tries to find out all the details needed for his chronicle. It is even better if you can also include some of their thoughts during the conversation. Try to highlight the details amply described without the storywriter being present. How much had he to invent?"

A második fordulóban a Quendi kategória versenyzőinek azon jelenetek egyikét kellett megírniuk, ahol A Gyűrűk Ura történetén dolgozó Frodó vagy Bilbó a kaland többi résztvevőjével beszélgetve próbálja begyűjteni az infókat azokhoz a részekhez, amelyeknél nem voltak jelen. Eimeria írásában Legolas részletezi a rohani táj éjszakai szépségeit, Mirachnál pedig Trufa emlékszik vissza Théoden királyra: mindketten Frodónak mesélnek.

A IX. Tolkien Levelező Verseny csapatos nevezői idén a második fordulóban egy rendhagyó feladatot is kaptak: plakátot kellett tervezniük a Magyar Tolkien Társaság 2015. évi nyári gyerektáborának. A beérkezett 33 megoldást a tábor szervezői értékelték. Ígéretük szerint a legjobb alkotást felhasználják a tábor valódi plakátjához is, valamint a legméltóbb csapat tagjai kedvezménnyel vehetnek majd részt a táborban.

The Hungarian Tolkien Society organises a summer camp for children for the third time this summer. In the second round the team categories had the task to design a poster for this camp: in this post you can see the two best solutions according to the judgement of the camp's organisers.

Túl vagyunk a verseny felén, a 3. fordulón, és itt az ideje, hogy ismét bemutassuk, hogy alakul a verseny állása a magyar kategóriáknál. Minden csapatnak szívből gratulálunk, kiváltképp azoknak, akik elérték a mágikus 250 pontot, a levelező fordulók során elérhető pontok felét! (Az egyénieknél az elérhető maximális pontszám 400, így a varázsvonal 200 pontnál húzódik.)

Here are the last two works to be published from the 1st round of the Quendi category, The Lonely Rider by Eimeria and The Dwarven City of Edinburgh by Nuzarkhem. The 4th task of the 1st Quendi round (leading to the creative writing task you already had a taste of and will have more in the second part of this post) was for the competitors to place their hometown on the map of Middle-Earth:
In one of his letters (#168) Tolkien mentioned his travels in Europe by referring to locations of historical Middle-Earth: "while I was away, in Gondor (sc. Venice), as a change from the North Kingdom". You have already disclosed us which part of the present world you are from but where would that place fit best in a map of Middle-Earth in the first four ages?

Although this is not from the "creative" part, I would take this opportunity to present you also those of the competitors, who decided to do only the "quiz" part and show you this alternative map of our world based on the answers of Eimeria, Eruantalon, Laurel, Mirach, Mirwa, Nairalin and Santo-Ignaggins.

A Quendi 1. forduló kreatív feladatára érkezett írások közül egyet már korábban közöltünk, egyet (a legtöbb pontot elért írást, Mirach "Fekete fa" című munkáját) ebben a postban teszünk közzé, további kettő pedig hamarosan következik. Volt azonban ennek egy felvezető feladata is a "kvíz" szakaszban, ahol konkrét közös jellemzők gyűjtésével kellett a versenyzőknek "beazonosítaniuk" a lakhelyüket Középfölde térképén.
