The Creative Autumn Meeting ("CAM" or "KÖMT" in Hungarian) is usually attended by about a hundred people, mostly members of our community but also a few newcomers—including foreign guests, as traditionally this is our most international event. Since 2008 we have received guests from Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, and we hope to welcome many more!
The main programme on Friday and Saturday (1-2 November) will consist of lectures and workshops about various subjects: Tolkienite or creative or anything the participants know about and want to share. The basic language of the programme is Hungarian, but we will try to help with translation to English wherever it is possible.
The list of workshops is available here >>>
All workshop titles are translated to English: descriptions are published only in Hungarian, but if you are interested in any of them (and machine translators fail as often happens with Hungarian), please ask and we will translate the details for you. Some of the workshops are only one session long, some others have more sessions but you can join part-time, and for some of them you should be there on all sessions. Workshop choices should be made in advance, and there may be a limit for the number of participants.
The event starts with a HalloweENT Ball on the evening of 31 October where you can join the waltzing forest either in elegant, in entish or in scary style, but please include something green or foresty in your outfit. During the weekend you can also expect board games, karaoke, the quest of finding your inner ent, giving and receiving gifts as a secret Yavanna, delicious food, and good company. There will also be a Stage Night where you are also welcome to charm us with dance, song, or other performances.
There will be no activities for Sunday (besides the cleaning), so you can add a bit of touristing to the weekend either on your own or in the company of (new or old) Hungarian friends.
The event (as the two previous autumn meetings) will take place in the school building in Seregélyes (Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/NPZbHWJnCay). The travel from Budapest to the venue is about 1 hour by car and about 2 hours by bus/train. (If you use public transport, we are happy to help you with the planning and the transfer.) Basic accommodation is provided in the classrooms of the school, so you need your own sleeping bag—bringing your own mattress is useful as well, but we can also provide some.
The full time participation fee would be 6000 HUF, but foreign guests receive the same 20% discount as official members of the Hungarian Tolkien Society, so that will be 4800 HUF (about 15 EUR). Part-time participation may be cheaper. Most of the workshops, every other programme and basic accomodation (sleeping in a classroom) is included in this price. There may be some special workshops with extra fee. Food is not included, but we offer many different food options, also for special diets. Please ask for details.
This article will be regularly updated with more details about workshops and other details. But in case you are planning to join us (or have any questions), please contact Metaflora (Flóra Orthmayr - metaflora[at]tolkien[dot]hu) for more information.
If you want to give a workshop or lecture, please let us know as soon as possible.
You can also join the Facebook event for updates.
